Box Stallion The Enclosure Chardonnay 2004

Bright gold in colour, with aromas of melons and spicy citrus. The Enclosure has butterscotch and creamy yeast with complex oak (both French and American new oak) on the palate and a long vibrant finish. This is how they used to make Chardonnay, a superb food wine!

The rich fruit and restrained oak make this chardonnay an elegant table wine to match with a broad range of food.

Box Stallion

Box Stallion

Box Stallion is one of the Mornington Peninsula's most innovative winemakers. From its beginnings in 1997 it was destined to sit apart from the traditional producers of this region, by virtue of the wide and exotic range of grape varieties planted.

The name Box Stallion is a blend of contemporary branding and a connotation to the property's immediate past history as a premium thoroughbred nursery and racing stable. Our equine connection is still evident in the form of our 'Red Barn' Cellar Door, the 'Sandroll' Rotunda, and fine bloodstock that grace the pastures of our neighbour, leading thoroughbred trainer Lee Freedman.

Box Stallion is a joint venture combining the skills and resources of two families; The Gillies and The Zerbe's. The first vines were planted in 1996, however in the interests on gaining some vineyard maturity, 2001 was the year of first wine production. In that short time, Box Stallion has already gained recognition for its wines and winemaking in state and national wine shows and through favourable reviews.

Two bays and Bass Straight bound The Mornington Peninsula, in the most southeastern part of mainland Australia. The Box Stallion vineyards, positioned in the middle of this region enjoy a maritime climate with long gentle summers and good ripening weather extending as late as May. The rolling hills with good northerly exposure produce low yields of high quality fruit, which is then lovingly processed to become distinctive, cool climate wines of exceptional bouquet and pallet.
