Tallarook Marsanne 2004

Winemaking
Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, the juice was cold settled, then directly transferred to French oak barrels (third year and older) where it underwent a totally wild yeast fermentation and partial malo-lactic fermentation. Allowed sixteen months on lees with infrequent stirring before bottling in November 2005.

Tasting Notes
Eye: Deep Straw
Nose: Complex aromas of wild honey, almond blossom and frangipani.
Palate: Palate is rich and strongly textured from the long, slow lees contact. Excellent palate weight showing honeyed almond and cashew supported by a good acid structure. Already developing great length.

Tallarook

Tallarook

Tallarook
is situated on an elevated yet protected site, among rugged hills on the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, in Central Victoria, Australia. The original Tallarook Vineyards form part of a property named Dabyminga. Established first in the 1980s and purchased in 1992 by the Riebl family, these vineyards and the wines produced under the TALLAROOK® label represent a pioneering effort for the Tallarook district.

The land was once part of the territories of the Goulburn Aboriginal tribes. Before white settlement, it was one of the most densely populated areas in Australia. Dabyminga derives from "Ab'minga" (snaketracks) in the language of the Natramboolok tribe. In the same language, Tallarook means "Call of the wattlebird".
